Q. How do I transfer a GarageBand file for my Desktop Mac to GarageBand for iPad?

A. At least at this point in time, you can not. Exporting files is a One Way Trip, from GBi (GarageBand for iPad) to GBX (GarageBand for OS X), but not the other way around (GBX to GBi). It may be possible with some future update, however there would be quite a few hurdles to overcome, and Apple has made no mention of ever supporting such an option.

GarageBand from Apple Computer uses audio loops and MIDI loops in Apple Loops format. It can work with Audio Units plug-ins. Apple Macintosh Compatible FireWire and USB interfaces can be used to connect Audio and MIDI instruments to your Mac, and be recorded into GarageBand.
