Assuming it's not a song purchased from the iTunes Store with DRM (Digital Rights Management), select the song in iTunes and choose "Show in Finder" from the File menu, then drag the file itself into the GarageBand timeline. If it still fails to import then use the Never-Fail™ method to convert the file (even if it already is an AIFF)
