A. Apple's GarageBand can handle Mp3, unprotected AAC, AIFF, and WAV, if they are 44.1K, 16-bit files. If they are not in the right format internally and refuse to import, use the Never-Fail™ method to convert them into the proper format.
Additionally, these newer versions of Apple's GarageBand can acccept 24-bit files (The sample rate of 44.1k still applies)

GarageBand from Apple Computer uses audio loops and MIDI loops in Apple Loops format. It can work with Audio Units plug-ins. Apple Macintosh Compatible FireWire and USB interfaces can be used to connect Audio and MIDI instruments to your Mac, and be recorded into GarageBand.
