A. The early versions of GarageBand only come as part of the iLife suite of software, there is no way to buy it separately (and the truth is, if it were sold separately it would, at minimum, cost $50 itself. Much of the cost is in packaging. Apple is able to save money by bundling all those products into a single package).

When Apple opens its Mac App Store you will be able to purchase and download GarageBand by itself for $14.99!

GarageBand from Apple Computer uses audio loops and MIDI loops in Apple Loops format. It can work with Audio Units plug-ins. Apple Macintosh Compatible FireWire and USB interfaces can be used to connect Audio and MIDI instruments to your Mac, and be recorded into GarageBand.
