A. While not every program supports it, any application that does support Apple's "iLife Preview" option can play and use your .band files. In order to enable this option
open GarageBand's preferences, select the "General" tab, and enable the "Audio Preview" checkbox. This will save a rendered "preview" of each song within your .band file for other software to access.
