Q. How do I add an effect to a track in Apple's GarageBand '09 (and later)?

A. Select any of your "Real" tracks, "Software" tracks, or the Master GarageBand track (not a Guitar Track), click the Track "i"nfo button, and select the Edit tab near the top. Once the Edit tab is selected...
click in any of the blank slots to display a PopUp menu of GarageBand effect choices.
For a Guitar Track, Click any of the effects displayed on the "wooden floor", and then click the Edit Button towards the Top Right. Form there you can drag any of the "Stomp Boxes" onto the "Floor".
To remove a Stomp Box, drag it back to the bottom area.
